When someone walks through the doors of The Haven, and decides to move towards sobriety, they will be immediately paired with a participant who has found recovery and is about to complete the program. This is the core of our peer-based program – an individual in recovery provides hope to the newcomer seeking detox by showing them recovery is possible and that they are not alone. Our “Dry Beds” will provide 'social stabilization' services 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. They will provide a substitute to emergency rooms, jails or the streets.
The overarching goals of the "dry beds" is to help people safely detox and to help them engage with the necessary support in order to start and stay in recovery. The staff of The Haven will utilize empirically-based withdrawal assessment tools to determine when an individual needs a higher level of care in a hospital.
